Game Night
We had a game night at Bruce and Christy's place on Saturday night. We played some pool, ate like royalty, and played 2 games of Cranium. One of my favorite Cranium memories is playing it with them last year when the 4 of us went skiing together, but this time might have been even more fun than that time. It is great when 4 players who all have strengths come together for a wicked board game tournament. For the occasion, I made an English trifle. I made my first trifle this past autumn when the 4 of us had dinner together, and it was a pretty okay trifle, but certainly a starter one. This one, however, was one of my finer kitchen productions. My dad got me a trifle bowl and tons of ingredients for Christmas so I was well prepared when I began the process on Friday afternoon. I like this type of cooking...about 10 minutes in the kitchen at a time over a 24 hour time span. It works for people with short attention spans!!!! So, I've documented the final product for a few reasons. First, I think it is important for my dad to see it so he can actually believe that I "cooked". Second, I need the proof myself. Third, I'm pretty proud of myself and want to share my accomplishment with the world! Now, for those of you unfamiliar with trifles, this is what you're seeing, layered, from the bottom up: cubed angel food cake, mix of tropical fruits, mixed berry jello, custard, white chocolate pudding, butterscotch pudding, chocolate pudding, heavy whipping cream, fresh raspberries and chopped walnuts. Yum.

That looks absolutely delish! I would totally break my veganism for a big serving of Laura's trifle. I miss you! I'll bake some cupcakes for you and eat them and save some for you :o)
